Hobbies

I don't have time for tatting and crocheting anymore, and my cacti are mostly alive but not very happy. I have some hobbies to replace these, but I'll just leave the (old) content up for now.

I have always had a lot of hobbies. Most of them very incongrous. I've decided to present some of them on these pages:

Recipes

I have a few recipes that are relatively unique, such as a porridge I put together myself, and a common cold remedy we got from a radio show. I'll put them up as I get time... - Recipes

Cats

Eh, not sure I should call this a hobby. But since I accidentally acquired a cat, I've decided to make the most of it, and he's a fun little rascal!

Genealogy

Unlike many who post their whole family history on their homepage, I believe that's invasion of privacy. Not just of my privacy but of countless others in my immediate and extended family. If you know you're related to me, holler and I'll give you part of your family history. Probably a lot more than you hoped for!

But what I can give you is some advice on genealogy in general. So much has been said about gedcoms and software, I won't repeat that here.

Photos of ancestors - now that's an area I feel passionately about. I'll show you how to copy and distribute those old photos!

Cacti

Echinopsis flower

I've been growing cacti in the windowsill for some years, but lately I have to admit there isn't much left. My current home isn't that well suited to growing cacti...

My interest has been mostly in photographing the flowers. I have several hundred photos of flowering cacti.

Crocheting and tatting

Tatting

I learnt tatting from my aunt. It's a technique that sadly not too many master. It's reminiscent of macramé, and was done by the noble ladies in 17th century and upwards. Unlike macramé it's tiny and delicate. It takes time, unfortunately, but the results are absolutely exquisite. Eventually I'll put up a picture of a tatting project, but for now you can check out the link below.

Crocheting

Crocheting is many different things to many different people. To me it is a technique that enables me to design bookmarks that are easy to make and doesn't require a lot of time. I tend to make a new design every time I take it up (I usually don't have time for it), but sometimes one design is so succesful I have to make more than one.
I would like to show you a picture of one of them, but unfortunately I haven't figured out a way to protect my designs yet, so I still have to keep them under wraps.
