Frokostgrøt/Breakfast porridge

I had to translate this recipe, and in Norway I use deciliter measures for this porridge. The closest US measure is 1/3 cup. It's slightly less, but not dramatically so. It should work fine. Experiment with other measures if the portion size is too small for you.

This is a recipe I've come up with on my own. I think it's wonderful and have used it for years now. I prefer this over bread, but only use it for breakfast.

The dry mix:

8 x 1/3 cup oat (the pressed kind that needs less cooking time)
1 cup cut sunflower seeds
1/3 cup linseed. The cut kind are nice, but you can use whole seed as well

Mix this well together and keep in a plastic container.

One portion porridge:

1/3 cup dry mix
1 pinch seasalt
1 pinch brown sugar
1/3 and 1/6 cup water
1/3 cup milk

We use an electric stove. Not sure how you'd do it with gas:

Put the casserole on to boil. When it boils, turn the heat off and let it simmer for 2 minutes. Stir occasionally.

To serve I use two slices of a specific sweet brown cheese we have in Norway. Not available abroad... BUT, it tastes good with mashed bananas. You could try it with different jams and fruits, see what you like.

Dette er en oppskrift jeg har laget selv. Har brukt den i flere år, og synes den smaker utrolig godt! Foretrekker denne framfor brød!

Først må du lage den tørre blandingen:

8 dl lettkokte havregryn
3 dl oppkuttede solsikkefrø
1 dl linfrø. Bruk gjerne de som kjøpes oppkuttet
Bland dette godt sammen og oppbevar i en plastboks

For en passe porsjon grøt:

1 dl tørr blanding
1 klype havsalt
1 klype brunt sukker
1 1/2 dl vann
1 dl melk

Sett på full varme inntil det begynner å koke, og skru av plata. La koke på ettervarmen i 2 minutter. Rør om av og til.

Jeg pleier å bruke to skriver brunost av typen Synnøve mild fløtemysost som jeg hakker nedi og blander godt sammen. Smaker utrolig godt!

Du kan eksperimentere med andre smakstilsetninger. Banan smaker godt til, men jeg gikk trøtt av det ganske fort. Men det er absolutt verdt å prøve!
