htaccess trick testing
I did some testing of the mod_rewrite tricks below, and it seems it's Cindy's trick that stops the Bulgarians.
I'll update the post to reflect that.
Here it is again:
# pineapple baby - comment spammer - shhhhh
RewriteCond %{HTTP:VIA} ^.+pinappleproxy
RewriteRule .* - [L,F]
You still get the entries in your log (referrer spamming), but with 403 errors.

I have had a couple sneak through in the past few days. He is experimenting. I increased the logging I am capturing on them, all the http headers now, to see if I can find something else. It's funny you know, http headers aren't always cleared out right. I got a strange value in one field that led me to the blog that got spammed just before he hit me. Let's see what else we find.
