<description>Alvin, you are either an impostor, or you have a problem with your browser. There's a link to an Italian Cialis site under the url link. I'm going to remove it. I'll leave your post for now. But if this happens again, I'll remove any other posts from you here as well.

<description>Heh, sad to say, I don't think it would have helped. There's a theory set forth by a Swedish gentleman about the spiritual climate of countries. He thinks there's a connection between how a country behaves towards Israel and how spiritually alive or dead it is. I don't know if his theory is true, but I can tell you that Norway is VERY dead right now. Which is why that Gospel channel is (occasionally) something I appreciate. A bit too much southern gospel maybe, but the first glimpse I got of that channel was some concert that was anything but dead!

<description>I think maybe the biggest problem with it all, is that it's comfortable &#38; easy. It makes it easy to convince us that we're reaching the world with the gospel. And while it's true to a point, I suppose, it doesn't beat one-on-one ministering.

And back to what I was comparing giving to TV "ministers" (their term, not mine), missions giving here in the U.S. is - pardon me - pathetic! And I've seen it firsthand. Granted, all that I've seen of it was after 9/11/01, when things dropped, but still, it's sad. When financial times are tough, shouldn't we, as Christians, be the ones to stand up &#38; show the world how it's done?

Again, Ann, I'm sorry things aren't so well spiritually where you're at.

Sayyyyyy...maybe I need to move to Norway...we can teach them how to worship.... *heh*

<description>I was wondering where you were! That thing had been sitting there for quite a while before you got on with it, hehe!

Seriously, although I've started getting annoyed every time I tune in and see a preaching head, it wasn't until I talked to an old lady that it was really brought home to me.

She's very hard of hearing, and will not be able to get anything out of MOST of what's on TBN these days. Even so, she wanted the three Christian channels available via satellite here in Norway. I started thinking about what would be easy for her to get something out of, and realized all the preaching heads would be dead air to her.

Benny Hinn would work, because it's almost always visual. And of course those power lifters, although it's hardly something she's ever seen before. Children's programs, possibly music programs.

But you know why there's so much of that preaching heads syndrome? It's cheap TV!

Shooting and editing visually exciting stuff is usually much more expensive!

<description>Well, you just KNOW I had to comment, right? ;)

You do know it was you that I had in mind when I commented about it on my blog, don't you? Again, more power to you.

I guess - here in the U.S., anyhow - it bothers me that there are so many talking heads that should be little more than pastors of local bodies on TV, looking for money to keep them on TV - basically, largesse - while there are missionaries that need that money so much more. Especially in EU countries, where the $US has dropped over 30% in the last year + against the Euro.

Thoughts?
